This is a sweet novel where we see jack show his love and understanding for Lily. I see Lily grow more in this novella as well. We are at Lily's house for New year's and Jack is hoping her parents will accept him. Things are going good. And than Derek comes in and boy is he angry. His anger is taken out on Jack mainly and the things he says about Lily and Jack but mainly Lily are horrendous. Such hate. Well it takes everything for Jack not to do anything. This ruins the moment of Jack feeling like he belonged. Lily's dad is accepting. Sweet man. Even her brother Jon when he is talking to Jack is accepting and willing to give him a chance but her mom. Seriously her mom is a snob. She feels the world is black or white and her pretending with Jack was terrible. She sees him as a loser that the only person right for lily is Derek. Not true. I liked Derek to this point. Now I don't uhuh.
Lily is right in telling Derek to go they need to be apart even as friends. It shows her growth and how far she has come. She is no longer the doll that everyone dresses up for their window which is what Derek saw to but a person with thoughts and feelings. Lily surprises me in this book. She stands up for Jack and even is able to deal with her mom's snobbery with a calm demeanor.
We see Jack and Lily's love go even further and Jack start to show some more healing. A beautiful holiday story that will put a smile on your face a but also show you how much people can be ignorant and hurtful.

Star of Bethlehem Flowering Book 3 edition by Sarah Daltry Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
The story of Lilly and Jack continues in the book. And I can't wait to dive into the next part of their story. Sarah when I start reading your books I find if difficult to put them down! You are an amazing writer!!! <3
This installment of Jack & Lily's story seems to drag on. There are just too many lengthy inner monologues.
I am determined to finish the series which shows that the story is at least somewhat interesting. But, I just can't recommend it to others.
So it is no secret that I absolutely love Jack and Lily! Star of Bethlehem is a holiday novella that takes place during New Year’s Eve and into the New Year! Poor Jack is terrified about meeting Lily’s parents and has gone to great lengths to make sure they will like him, such as buying an awful itchy sweater. Lily is impatiently waiting for him to show and just as nervous about Jack meeting her parents, not because she cares about what her parents think, but because she knows it means the world to Jack that they approve of him.
Throughout the evening they seem to go through every barrier possible and everything is going perfect, until Derek shows up and makes a scene in front of the whole family. I felt so bad for Jack, I wanted to reach through the pages and punch Derek right in the face for treating both Jack and Lily like trash. Jack controls himself and does not take his anger out on Derek’s face but rather punches the wood stove (which he doesn’t even remember doing).
Lily on the other hand is struggling with herself as an individual. She knows who she wants to be, but her family make is very difficult to by treating her like she is a dress up doll that is supposed to act a certain way and be a certain person. Even with all of the tension Lily manages to keep her cool and tells her father and mother that Jack is the most important person to her and that she has never been so happy and felt more like the person she is meant to be.
In the end they spend a wonderful evening together and enjoy bringing in the New Year together, alone and away from the huge family that Lily has stalking around her house.
I thought that this was a perfect way to show the readers that no matter the obstacles that Jack and Lily have to face now or in the future they can overcome everything as long as they are together!
Congratulations to Sarah for doing it again! I am a devoted fan and will always read no matter what you write, because I know that you will not disappoint me!
I will start with how I LOVE the Flowering Series by Sarah Daltry.
This Novella picks up right where Lily of the Valley left off.
We get to see what happens when Jack meets Lily's parents and numerous relatives - not to mention family friends, if you are aware of the series then you can guess how nervous Jack is feeling.
Sarah has written it so well, and well I had a feeling that Lily's mother would be stuck up, and at first I think, ooh she's being nice... But then she shows her true colours!
Along with Derek (the ex) crashing the party, there are enough twists and turns in the story to keep you glued to the book. I can't wait to see how Sarah develops the story in Orange Blossom, which is the next instalment in story of Lily and Jack.
I recommend you read Lily of the Valley first.
First off, I need to say that I am absolutely in love with Jack and Lily. The first books in the series have sucked me in and I know I will be reading any future books about these characters.
This is it, a big step in any relationship... the meeting of ... the dreaded parents. Jack is willing to do just about anything to make Lily's parents like him. Lily knows they won't. Her parents have this thing with appearances, always forcing her to smile and act like everything is OK even when it wasn't. Jack definitely won't fit into their idea of the perfect man for her. Her parents act like everything is OK though and Jack feels like he actually belongs somewhere. Then Derek shows up....
I am a huge Jack fan, more so than Lily. He's been through so much, he has nothing, but he will do anything for Lily. His gift to her sticks in my mind. It was so sweet. It wasn't much, but to me, it showed how much he cares and how much he wants her to be happy.
If you haven't started this wonderful series, you are missing out on a wonderfully, well-written story. You need to start with Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley. Trust me, you will not regret these purchases.
